If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that resilience is key. And that was put to the test on my recent hike in Quiaring, Isle of Skye. We were scheduled to hike 4 miles on a beautiful trail... but Mother Nature had other plans. A nasty hail storm and high winds forced us to turn back, but we weren't about to let a little rain stop us! After waiting out the storm, we made our way back up the mountain and completed the hike. It was definitely an epic experience!
It was a rainy day and we were already behind schedule by the time we got to Quiaring, about 15 minutes from our house. But the weather cleared up and we decided to start the hike, despite the high winds. We made it about 30 minutes into the hike before the hail started, and then had to take shelter in our car for a while.
After the storm died down, we made our way back up the mountain. To be honest, I was not for this decision. This being my first ever hike, I was PERTRIFIED. Felt like it was a mistake. Sometime during the first 30 minutes, I said, I can't do it anymore and the rest of the group moved forward. I was sitting in this gorgeous view. But I knew I had to be resilient. Something in me told, just try a few more steps. It is okay if you don't finish the hike, but let's get out of the fear. What harm could happen , really? So I started walking again. And then before I knew it, I was united with the group again
It was an epic experience, one that I'll never forget. And it's taught me that no matter what life throws my way, I can overcome it.
Resilience is key, especially when embarking on new adventures. Whether it's a new job, a new relationship, or in my case, a new hike - don't give up! You never know how amazing the experience could be if you just push through the tough times. Quiaring will always have a special place in my heart because it was my first real test of resilience. And I'm proud to say that I just pushed myself to take the next step, even when I was scared. And that's what life is all about! Quiaring, Isle of Skye - thank you for the adventure. I'll be back soon!
